2026 Global Esports Games Canadian National Team Selection

Esport Canada has initiated the roster selection process for Canadian National Teams at the upcoming 2026 Global Esports Games (GEG) in the following three titles: iRacing, Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), and Rocket League (RL).

This selection process aims to field players who embody technical excellence, tactical intelligence, and a steadfast commitment to sportsmanship, professional conduct, and national pride.
 

Selection Process & Governance

Rosters for the 2026 GEG will be fielded by Direct Selection:

  • First Right of Refusal: Active roster members from Esport Canada’s official CS2 and Rocket League National Teams hold the first right of refusal for participation.

  • Direct Invitations: Additional candidates and open roster spots will be evaluated and invited based on title-specific criteria and recommendations from appointed Technical Advisors.

  • Final Ratification: All final team rosters are reviewed and ratified by the National Team Committee in accordance with Esport Canada policy.
     

Athlete Selection Criteria by Title

Note: Invitations are extended based on documented competitive excellence, mechanical proficiency, and professional conduct in alignment with the Esport Canada Code of Conduct & Ethics.

1. iRacing

  • iRating & License Class: Minimum iR: 6000 (Across either one of the top 3 disciplines: Sports Car, Open Wheel or Stock Car), Minimum A class with 4.0 safety rating.

  • Competitive Track Record: iRacing Top / Second split appearance in special events, IMSA iRacing Series, Porsche Supercup or Regional Qualifiers appearances, A or B class open wheel top split appearances, FIA F4 World Championship or regional qualifier appearance.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proven consistency in telemetry analysis, racecraft, setup development, and endurance/sprint formats.

2. Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)

  • National Team Standing: First right of refusal extended to existing National Team members.

  • Secondary Invitations: Additional roster openings will be filled based on [e.g., Tier 1/2 HLTV-recorded LAN experience, ESEA Premier/ECL standing]

  • Team Dynamics & Professionalism: Proven track record of coachability, adaptability, and positive squad integration based on professional references.

3. Rocket League

  • National Team Standing: First right of refusal extended to existing National Team members; 

  • Secondary Invitations: Additional roster openings will be filled based on [e.g., Top 16 placement in recent RLCS Regionals, Majors, or World Championships within the last 24 months]

  • Team Dynamics & Professionalism: Proven track record of coachability, adaptability, and positive squad integration based on professional references.

About the Global Esports Games

The Global Esports Games (GEG) is an annual, multi-title international tournament hosted by the Global Esports Federation where athletes represent their home countries.

The 2026 Global Esports Games will take place in Los Angeles, USA, bringing together national teams from every corner of the globe to compete in a showcase of international sporting excellence.

The Global Esports Games operate on a traditional, Olympic-style athletic model. As an official multi-title international convention:

 

  • Medal Competition: Athletes compete for official GEF medals, prestige, and world rankings for their country - there is no monetary prize pool.
