PROUD HOME OF YOUR
NATIONAL TEAMS
As the officially recognized Canadian representative to both the Global Esports Federation (GEF) and the International Esports Federation (IESF), Esport Canada is the national home for Canadian participation in
nation-based esports competition.
Our National Team Programs are designed in alignment with established Canadian sport standards and best practices used by National Sport Organizations (NSOs), emphasizing transparent selection processes, athlete well-being, safe sport, and high-performance development. Whether competing regionally or on the world stage, Esport Canada works to ensure that Canadian esports players are supported, prepared, and recognized within a system that reflects the values and governance standards of Canadian sport.

National Team Selection
Esport Canada’s National Team Selection processes are designed to align with Sport Canada’s National Team Program requirements and principles of transparency, fairness, accessibility, and player-centred governance. Selection methods, eligibility standards, required documentation, timelines, and evaluation criteria are title-specific and will be published in advance of each National Team Selection period to ensure equal access to information for all prospective participants.
Required documentation may include, but is not limited to, proof of citizenship or eligibility to represent Canada, age verification, codes of conduct and safe sport acknowledgements, competitive history or ranking verification, and any additional materials identified within the title-specific criteria.
During the National Team Selection period, Esport Canada will first identify and confirm an independent Selection Committee for each competitive title. This committee will appoint the respective National Team Coach and subsequently oversee athlete selection in accordance with the published criteria. Each selection process will also include a defined appeals process, outlining timelines, grounds for appeal, and review procedures to ensure procedural fairness and accountability. This staged and documented approach supports consistency, competitive integrity, and clear expectations for all participants.
Selection process and criteria for the 2026 National Teams will be released in the coming weeks.
