NATIONAL COUNCIL

Esport Canada Post-Secondary (EC PS) is a national council dedicated to advancing post-secondary esports in Canada

Mission

Esport Canada Post-Secondary represents all post-secondary esports programs in the country that apply and are accepted for membership.

Our goal is to elevate post-secondary esports in the country and advocate on behalf of Canadian esports programs.

Advocate on behalf of Canadian programs to ensure they are being considered and that needs are being met with:

■     North American Leagues

■     Publishers

■     Government

RECOGNITION

Recognize top teams in Canada through:

■     Canadian Power Rankings

■     National Tournaments

○     Recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of coaches, staff, programs, players, and students

EDUCATION

○     Convince more Canadian institutions to invest in esports

○     Help develop new Canadian varsity esports programs

○     Guide student esports clubs in their pursuit of varsity recognition and support

○     Defining what being a varsity program means through establishing Standards of Excellence

○     Administer, compile, and publish an annual survey and results that illustrates what the current landscape for post-secondary esports looks like in Canada

Standards of

Excellence

STAFF

  • Must be employed full-time by the institution (or associated internal organization) with esports representing the majority of the person's job responsibilities.

FACILITIES

  • Must provide designated esports facilities to players, at no charge to the student, for practices and games.

  • The majority of games will be played from this facility under the supervision of a designated esports staff member.

  • Facilities don’t necessarily need to be on campus. They can be rented space.

  • If your institution has committed or has begun construction of an esports facility with completion planned within one academic year qualifies for an exemption

ACADEMIC SUPPORTS

  • Must provide some form of academic support for players signed to the program. Over and above what’s traditionally offered to the average student. Can be either scholarships, early move-in, early registration, preferred class selections, academic support, health, mental health support, etc.

RECOGNITION

  • Must be officially recognized as the esports program representing the institution

  • Letter signed by a senior-level administrator confirming that the program officially represents the institution in intercollegiate esports competition.

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

  • All rostered players must be full-time students and in good academic standing as per your institution guidelines

  • Exception granted to students in their graduating year.
